How Creators Actually Use 360 Virtual Mixing Environment
[Visual Cue: Music creators and postproduction mixing engineers experience 360VME across a diverse range of physical environments.]
[Josh Berg] 360 Virtual Mixing Environment is what spatial mixing in headphones is supposed to be. It actually sounds like the room that you are in and it's a very sophisticated experience that allows you to actually work in the room that you are used to with all the advanced speaker setups in headphones and take that with you anywhere you want to go.
[Visual Cue: A 360VME measurement expert places small measuring microphones inside different creator's ears.]
[Josh Berg] The professionals at Sony will take measuring instruments and put them inside of your ears, create sounds throughout the room to create a profile of that room to your specific head shape, ears and everything and so you can hear perfectly the room in your ears.
[Visual Cue: A creator listening through headphones, looking pleasantly suprised.]
[Engineer] That’s headphones, right?
[Creator] That’s crazy, it sounds like it’s coming...
[Visual Cue: Ellen Cordisco speaking enthusiastically about watching others try the tech.]
[Ellen Cordisco] You take off the headphones and you're like, what's going on? You're watching someone else experience it but until you're actually the one who's sitting in that chair you don't realize how crazy it's going to be to hear.
[Visual Cue: Ellen Cordisco sitting at a home mixing station and creating music.]
[Ellen Cordisco] As a freelance producer, I've been using it so far for mixing because I had the lucky experience of getting to take Studio 1 of Larrabee home. That's a huge resource to get to check mixes on. So that's how I'm utilizing the software because not every space that I’m in is ideal. So that might be a challenge that I'm overcoming with that software.

[Josh Berg] So even though we are here with this incredible set up I'm still able to transport myself to Battery Studios in New York City and contrast and compare to get references. In the modern high end music environment you have to be very flexible and you move around a lot and so 360 Virtual Mixing Environment allows you to have always a safe place where you can go where you know what everything sounds like.
